Drafting for CPU Controlled Teams

Reasoning:

If a team is CPU controlled for the draft portion of the season, a committee will draft for that team rather than the CPU. Typically, a team that is CPU controlled is a bad team, and will have a high draft pick. Since this draft pick will reshape the future of the team, we want to ensure that the fate of the team is not decided by a computer's bad draft pick. In the 2021 draft, the CPU essentially got nothing out of the 2nd pick in the draft in which it could have had Michael Jordan, John Stockton or Charles Barkley. Doing so makes it harder to find a GM, and hurts the league (IMO).

Committee Composition

The committee will include 3 people, who are obtained in the following manner.

  • If there are people in the opposing conference that do not have a 1st round draft pick, they will be asked to be a part of the committee.
  • Depending on how many more people are needed to total 3, The commish's and global moderators will be used to round out the committee, as needed.

How the committee decides the pick

Each committee member will submit a draft list for each draft pick the team(s) owns. Each draftee will get a value of 1-10 depending on where (in relation to order) they are in that members draft list. i.e.:
PistonsGM list:

  • Michael Jordan
  • Hakeem Olajuwon
  • John Stockton

Pacers List:

  • Hakeem
  • Stockton
  • Jordan

Hawks list:

  • Jordan
  • Stockton
  • Hakeem

For this list, Michael would get a value of 1, 3, 1 for a total of 4. Hakeem a value of 2, 1, 3 for a total of 6. Stockton a value of 3, 2, 2 for a total of 7. The list for that team would then be ordered based on total, lowest to highest. So Michael would be the first player in the draft list, Hakeem second, and Stockton third.

In the case of a tie, the person who was listed higher the most gets the tiebreaker (in this scenario, if Hakeem and Stockton tied, Hakeem would be higher in the draft list because he was listed higher in 2 out of 3 draft lists. Since there's an odd # of committee members, this will never be ambiguous).

True Potentials

The committee cannot view the true potentials of draftees to aid in making the decision on who to draft.
